Second Favorite Man is the debut single by Tight Pajamas, a Bay Area creative team who write sly and unpredictable songs that peck and gnaw at the default mindset, and challenge social and sexual mores.
Tight Pajamas is an eclectic collaboration between polymath musician Susie Davis, free-range writer Jeff Greenwald, and their odd menagerie of family and friends. Like many artistic inspirations, Second Favorite Man came to life on a restaurant napkin. Jeff and Susie were enjoying hot sake in a Japanese restaurant when—while wistfully describing his unusual “poly” relationship—Jeff uttered the title line. Susie lit up, a pen was filched from the waiter, and (as the song says) “the rest is history.”
