Comment: This film isn’t “sexy”, exactly, but it does unashamedly depict the female body and menstruation, something that is still rare (and officially forbidden by porn billing companies as “obscene”). There’s a wry humour to this too; our heroine can’t remove a diva cup and has to call in help. We may cringe but many woman have been in similar straits.

A meditation on lust and bodies in slow motion.

The blurb: This short film was the opener at HUMP, Seattle’s erotic film festival, in 2010. The title is Latin for will-o’-the-wisp, or a spirit that leads men astray. You can figure the rest out.

“Dos Rios are childhood friends Issara Willenskomer, Yaque Silva-Doyle, and Paul Breslin. Issara and Yaque grew up together across a dirt road. Literally. As in Yaque’s parents house was on the left side of the dirt road and Issara’s mom’s house was on the right side. Since most of their childhood was spent marathoning every single VHS tape in the local video store (and there were many), it was small surprise that they both developed a keen interest in films, and powerful storytelling.

“It was therefore only a small logical step to imagine that they might start their own production company based on the idea of humanistic stories and strong filmmaking. Together, with Paul Breslin they represent 30 years of industry experience, and have worked on projects for such clients including HBO, MTV, Microsoft, Warner Bros., Hanes, AT&T, ESPN, Target, Motorola, and more.”

The blurb: The everyday distractions of work, bills and technology inflict a thousand cuts on the most important thing in our lives: love. Filmed in stop-motion with live actors in a world made entirely of paper, Let’s Dance is the story of one couple, as their connection struggles to survive the mundane and chaotic forces of the modern world.

John Alan Thompson is an American director whose short films have screened at prestigous festivals such as Sundance and Tribeca. He’s also directed ads for Google and Redbull. This film was sponsored by Playboy TV’s “TV for 2” for film festivals.

This film is cutesy but cleverly made and I found myself wondering if dancing was a metaphor for sex, especially since Playboy funded it. Thus, I’ve put it in the Film Festival section. Worth it for the porn/dance scene alone.

This is only short and isn’t explicit but I enjoyed the evocation of hotness. And the very last shot totally won me over.

Two naked women interact – they hug, they fight, they kiss. A short but entertaining hand-drawn animation by Sara Koppel.

Sara Koppel is an artist from Copenhagen who has spent years exploring eroticism in her animation. She has created a number of major shorts including Little Vulvah and Her Clitoral Awareness and Naked Love. Everything she animates is hand-drawn. This little animation may depict something of a stereotypical porn girl-girl interaction but the film is lovely to watch.

The blurb: Caroline and Rasmus are in a mess. They have not had sex for four months. To Caroline’s great dismay Rasmus believes the answer is to be found at the local swingers club, and Caroline reluctantly agrees to go with him to the club in an attempt to save their relationship.

Venus is an erotic comedy about rediscovering one another and finding the spark where you least expect it.
This lovely animated movie was Tor Fruergaard’s first film and it did well at plenty of mainstream festivals.
“I knew I wanted to do something original for my graduation film. So when my scriptwriter Sissel came to me with the idea of an animation film in a swingers club, I was hooked. For a lot of people animation is about funny animals doing funny stuff in movies for kids, I was pretty surprised how few animators have dealt with sexual and erotic content.”

A woman surprises her partner with a special anniversary present – the chance to shoot an erotic film together. The only problem is, she’s booked an entire film crew…

This film is pretty amateur but it’s a lot of fun. It’s not explicit but it does deal with porn so it suits the film festival section. It’s not totally accurate with regards to how porn film sets work… but I sometimes wish all the guys who email me wanting to be porn stars would watch this first.

The blurb: Here’s my crazy, sexy, comedy short, “The Anniversary Present.”

It’s about what happens when a poor schub, Marty, gets his wish, to shoot an erotic video with his girlfriend. It’s ridiculous good fun.

Yes there is nudity, and no, it’s not the good kind.

It was a wonderful experience and a chance to work with some of my favorite students from when I was a Film Professor.

And I forget one special guy in the credits, Michael Hoeppner, our exceptional Still Photographer. Thanks for watching!

This film succeeds in drawing the viewer in and creating sexual tension without being explicit (I think it won me over with the zipper part). It also cleverly tells its story without showing the faces of the actors.

The blurb: Moving between anxiety, reflection and fear, two strangers (Scott Alan Hislop and Julien Zeitouni) try to make sense of their predicament…stuck in a steam room. Heat increasing, they need to get out but can’t find the door. What is this place and how did they get here?

This place starts out as an erotic gay encounter… but then things take a very strange twist. This is a great film that keeps you guessing and the ending leaves you thinking. I’ve read that it is a modern take on Satre’s No Exit. Given the director’s origins in Israel, it also offers a take on the conflict there.

This film screened at numerous LGBT film festivals around the world and won several awards in 2009 and 2010 including the Iris Prize (info here).

Eldar Rapaport is an American-Israeli film director, screenwriter and producer, best known for his 2011 feature film August.

Turns out, there are cocks everywhere. This animated celebration of phallic imagery, both natural and man-made, takes a dark turn.

So good. The ridiculous voiceover makes it even better.
